Patient Preparation:

Aseptic techniques must be used in obtaining and transporting specimen.

Specimen Type:

Urine, throat, oral cavity, vaginal, or rectal specimens collected in a sterile contianer or Copan eswab.

Minimum Volume:

Fluid: 5mL

eSwab: entire swab

Reasons for Rejection:

Dry swab, in a non-sterile container, or does not meet collection, storage, or transport requirements.

Stability

Ambient: 7 days (Preferred)

Refrigerated: 7 days

Frozen: Unacceptable
