Patient Preparation:

Clean venipuncture site with Chloraprep swab for 15 seconds.
Allow to dry for 30 seconds. The site must be dry before performing venipuncture.
Disinfect the top of the tube stopper with 70% isopropyl alcohol wipe prior to collection and inoculation. Do not touch the site with any non-sterile object.

Collecting optimal volume significantly increases the recovery rate.
